You could do some sanding as well aster the spray
You could do something, put some wax, graze,
did you build the bricks on top of the wall plate? , thanks.
Hi Thanks for the video. I am hoping to do the same . Any advice /guidance would be appreciated.
Hi there great video. Can I ask you a question please? If you surveyed a possible customers bathroom for a tray, how do you find out which way the joists are running etc?
It can be very hard if there is flooring down covering the original boards, but there are often clues (screw heads, nails etc. running in the same direction). Also, if it's a terraced or semi detached house, the joists typically run front to back, because they are set into the brick work, and noise and fire could travel along the joists to the neighbours property if they ran the other way. In all other instances, the joists generally run in whichever direction is the shortest span. Floorboards always run perpendicular to joists. I hope that helps, and it's not any one set rule sadly, every builder does it slightly differently! Best of luck.
Fantastic informative video ...🎉🎉
What sand do you use please
Wow, those worktops are awesome!
What was the mix ratio sand and cement
Thank you for the tips.
Nice job👍🏾

I had a soil vent pipe going up into my roof and out ceiling but had a bathroom renovation done and the plumber removed the pipe - cut it to a short length capped it and boxed it in. Since then I was noticing my washing machine not draining properly and dishwasher not rinsing. A different plumber said he thinks it’s because the air is getting trapped which would have normally escaped via the soil pipe?
Yes I would agree with that...
@@OfficeBoyBuilder but I also notice my sink gurgling when machine is on and some water backing up - could it be drains too?
Yes that could be a slight clogging in the drains...it could all be linked - without enough airflow, bits may get blocked, which leads to more gurgling.
Nice job mate 👍
Is there catalist put in mix to make it go off or is it good to go straite out of bucket??? Cheers
I have 11sq metre area of patio that needs repointing. Would appreciate recommendation of quickest and easiest way of doing it please. I am not concerned that it lasts for many years just that it looks better now.
Please don't ever do this, horrible advice, prevents the silicone from adhering
Just watched another video that says dont use windolene lol
Would a 3 to 1 dry mix mortar be better?
Very interesting because my memories of my father doing some bits in the 60s or 70s was a very messy job with sticky wet stuff all over. I have a vast patio area most of which needs redoing - sigh.....
Not timberframe construction dipshit
Just a question on when you said the intumescent strip needs to be on the fire side. That’s fine when the door opens into the garage however if there is a step down into the garage the door needs to pull towards you as there is a step / trip hazard. The strip is then not on the fire side, but I can see the logic for both , not sure if there is a right or wrong ?
Hmmm good point - honestly not sure...it's conventional for doors to open into a room, so that you aren't having to walk backwards before walking forwards into a room, so I just followed that 🤔
Thanks, this is really helpful
Hello, thanks for the video! Quick question what sand and cement should I use please?
Wired in correctly , on three core and earth cable black is sleeved brown and is switched live ,, grey is neutral and sleeved blue
Why do Wickes kitchen all have white cabinets? They lose a lot of customers because they don't have different coloured carcass cabinets.
Hi, I noticed that your grout is for walls, there are grouts for floors specifically
What make are the rads you used?
Now the gaps behind the silicon as you spray onto it will not stick! Looks ok but its not stuck!! Thats where the water will come in 👍
Didn't say how cleared out
No need glue?
Thank you. Can you please do one of changing the flexible hose on the side? :) Can this be done easily as well? I'm wondering how easy it would be as the hose is decaying and rotting on mine! My water set up is different, I wonder if turning the water off gets all of the water from the pipe out, or whether it's still going to come out even with the main water valve off. Thanks.
If you don't have an isolator valve, you will need to switch the water off, either at the stock cock or at the mains on the road, and then flush the toilet, before the change over...that should get most of the water out the pipe, but keep a towel close by just in case
@@OfficeBoyBuilder thank you for the gentlemanly reply. Better leave it then! I have a valve that shuts all the water off in the bathroom, but the reason it's confusing is because it's a horizontal pipe, with a vertical bit that comes out onto an L shape and the rotting hose pipe is on this small bit coming off the pipe. I don't really understand whether water would shoot upwards if it's off everywhere else as soon as I remove the rotting hose (the hose has one of those little screws on it that also turns off the water for that bit - but I'm assuming the minute I take that hose off it would basically spurt loads of water!!). Thanks again though! ❤
I mean, presumably it couldn't really flood anything due to basic physics and gravity - and the flood risk is just the equivalent of the measurement of the horizontal amount of the L shape attached to the horizontal pipe (i.e. it's just a few centimetres worth of water). The rest of the water would simply stay standing in the vertical part of the L shape and the excess would run off. Presumably then the water would slowly fill up that part again when switched back on. However, I don't know what I'm doing. So I'll leave it!!! It's ancient. I'm basically just manually turning the water on to fill the cistern each time because of the broken fill valve (which I can replace as per this video). 😂
Underground 110mm pipe indoors? Hmmm...
diy at its finest
Would this grouting withstand power washing?
Once fully cured, yes. Obviously as grout gets old, it will break down, mainly through frost and ice damage, but that takes a number of years
And where do you buy the insert grill from ? Guessing it would be 25mm wide and small enough to keep insects out ?
I’m looking to build up off a 9” solid block wall (finished in sand & cement render)using the same system as you, am I right in thinking I’ll need to let the air gap and cement fibre sheet overhang ? Would you be willing to create a plan drawing for this ?
Yes, the 25mm battens and cement fibre board do hang over slightly past the block work, and ideally hang down slightly too, to push the DPM down a bit so there is a run off drop. You can attach any bug screen to the underside of the timber battens, although our SE didn't specify one and the building inspector didn't require one. I'm guessing that's because of where we are in the country and a complete lack of building eating bugs in our area...
Good to know I need to remove the old point first !
Hello mate. How much do you charge to lay new sewer drainage and bridging old man hole? Thanks.
You got to get yourself a sander mate. Now we have extractors and high end sanders, it’s a no brainer, clean house, clean lungs, fantastic finish..
You had the joist held up off the floor with a 100mm brick whilst you bolted it, but a suspended floor should have a minimum of 150mm from the sub floor to the underside of your joists, how was you able to get this passed?
People have said to lightly sprinke an hour after
Rain doesn’t really matter when erecting timber framing, only heavy wind, get the thing up!! Haha. Nice work!
Question - at this point in the video ( ruclips.net/video/qmzTwBhVtAU/видео.htmlsi=qmludX9aA9pmykin&t=626 ) the drop is more than 1 in 40, how is this allowed within regs? Asking as i need to drop some steep drops to get a soil pipe in over Tiered land, so what to understand best approach - i.e. i can achieve 1 in 40 but then i have to drop at 90 degrees, can i do this?.. thanks in advance
That particular pipe is only for grey water, not waste, so there isn't an issue with the drop... honestly not sure how you'd achieve it if you have space constraints.
Nice job How much this stairs cost I have the same situation
Your videos are very helpful, thanks for sharing.
And l there was me thinking you had to use heat resistant radiator enamel paint because of the heat otherwise paint that is Not designed for painting Rads always goes yellow even cracks & blisters after short time .
This is fantastic How much would something like this cost?
the eternal debate between dry or wet mix for repointing. Each to their own, but dry is quick so many trade use it a lot for obvious reason. However... now we have resin based filler options that are just as quick/easy to consider as well (£££!)
Great, thank you. How thick is the plywood for floor?
Anything over 12mm will do if it's proper ply. You wouldn't want to use OSB on the floor.
